Very damn brutal and entertaining, 9/10. I loved the satirical humor and fun characters in this one, so much hard work went into every single glorious action sequence. You can tell by the set up that Chapter III will be even more mild-blowingly intense. [Keanu 4 Life]

I don't mean to rain on this parade of praise, but I found JW2 to be less rewarding than the original. JW2 certainly has more action than its predecessor, and for me that's the rub. JW2 is one big testosterone-a-palooza and eardrum-rupturama, but it scarcely leaves room for meaningful plot development and character-building except as quick pencil sketches gotten done with and out of the way so we can have more ... explosions. Now that everyone wants to put Mr. Wick on my butt with extreme prejudice, let me depart as gracefully as I can by saying that, if heavy-heavy loud action is your thing, JW2 is bound to please.

Kick-ass, entertaining and relentless throughout. It has everything a sequel should have and definitely doesn't disappoint. If you loved the first one then you're probably going to love this one too. A straight up, balls-to-the-wall thrill ride from start to finish!

I gotta say Wick 2.0 is pure entertainment goodness just like the first one. Was a lot of fun to watch and the non cgi fight scenes are a pure treat.

I get a kick how everyone watches a relentless action movie without realizing they're getting a Cliff Notes version of the story of the Gods of Olympus' war against the Titans. Much like Chapter 1, John Wick is a seeming basic story of revenge and violence centered in a magical world where the rules of the normal world do no apply. Gun play and murder and mayhem can occur unabated in their world. But dig deeper into the John Wick chronicles and you'll find instead an allegory to deeper works of literature. The first movie is a loose retelling of Dante's Inferno (you can find my review on here of that). This one takes the action to Dante's backyard, but instead now we're getting a very loose retelling of Hercules war against the Titans and a little bit of the video game God of War and his battle against Olympus. The pattern fits: Wick is Hercules, continuously recruited by various Gods to do its bidding. This time, it's a God (probably Mars) who aspires to join the ranks of the 12 gods on Mount Olympus (re: the High Table) by killing his sister (probably Minerva) and co-opts Wick to battle the Titans that stand in his way. Yes, this is loosely based on Roman mythology, but all the elements are there. And hence it should come as no shocker that Ruby Rose's character is named Ares (a.k.a. The God of War in Roman Mythology). Therein is your lesson. Hopefully John Wick: Chapter 2 will prompt your curiosity to read (or for many reread) Roman mythology to find more allusions to those rich stories in this film. Now, as a film itself, John Wick: Chapter 2 is a little less engaging than its predecessor, if for nothing else than Wick's whole purpose and motivation was pure revenge in the first film. This time, it's a blood oath. Not as compelling as, say, taking revenge on those who killed your puppy. But Wick does delve more into the interplay of this secret world of assassins and the rules that dictate their lives (well, there are only two, really). The fight scenes and choreography are still exemplary here, and while maybe not the greatest actor with a range that rivals Al Pacino, Keanu Reeves proves again that he is truly a thinking man's action hero. **SPOILER ALERT** Taking the Roman mythos, I can safely predict where Chapter 3 will go. Winston is Zeus, and despite Wick breaking the cardinal rule of no killing in the Continental, Winston will use Wick in the next movie in his personal war against the Titans (who we will assume in this context are those who aspire to depose of the 12 Gods of the High Table).

Do you like mafia stories? Do you like magic and super-heroism? This is the film for you. Go see the first one again, because you don't remember it. After that, grab some more popcorn and watch this sequel. When you've got movies like Keanu Reeves in them, you can't lose
